FIKES UPNVJ - On Saturday, November 9, 2024, a Project Based Learning activity was carried out for the Gerontic Nursing Course with an educational form themed "Pain Free in Old Age: Movement Activities to Prevent and Overcome Gout." This event took place at the Al-Hidayah Mosque, located at Jalan Pinang 2 Number 22, RT 03 / RW 015, Limo, Depok, West Java. This Project Based Learning was carried out by Semester 5 and 7 Students from the Nursing S1 Study Program, with guidance from Ns. Chandra Tri Wahyudi, M.Kes., M.Kep, who acted as a Gerontic Nursing lecturer. The targets and participants of this activity were residents of RT 03 / RW 015 in Limo Village, Limo District.
The series of activities began with participant registration. After all participants were registered, the event was opened by the MC, followed by the playing of the song Indonesia Raya and the National Defense March. After that, a speech was given by the Chief Executive, followed by a speech from representatives of the local community. After the speech session, participants took a pre-test to measure their initial understanding of gout. After the pre-test, material about gout was delivered, including the causes, symptoms, risk factors, and prevention and treatment steps for people suffering from gout. Furthermore, a demonstration of acupressure therapy was held to provide additional therapy for gout sufferers or as a preventive measure. After the demonstration session was over, the activity continued with a question and answer session, where participants could ask questions and discuss further with students.
Then, participants took a post-test to assess their increased understanding after this activity. Furthermore, the participants who were most active in asking questions and participating in the discussion were announced, followed by the distribution of prizes as a form of appreciation. The event was then closed with a prayer and ended with a group photo session as a souvenir. Finally, after the educational activity was over, the community was invited to take a free uric acid check that had been provided by the students.
