FIKES UPNVJ - Floods are the most common natural disasters, especially in big cities (BNPB, 2022). This flood disaster usually becomes an annual routine when the rainy season arrives. Very heavy rain for a long period of time is a common cause of flooding in the world (BPBD Nasional RI). According to the Public Works and Spatial Planning Agency (DPUPR), Depok City has 13 flood and landslide points in 2023. In addition, West Java has a High Disaster Risk Index category (145.81) in 2020, while Depok City is included in the Medium Disaster Risk Index (89.63) (Agonwardi & Budi, 2016). The increase in population in Depok City is in line with the increase in residential areas which results in an increase in high risk of disasters, one of which is flooding. On April 25, 2025, a group of 9 students of the clinical health profession of Matra held a flood mitigation counseling with the theme “AKSI CERDAS: Antisipasi Banjir, Siaga Selamatkan Jiwa” at Posyandu Mawar 1 RT 02, RW 06, Limo Village, Depok City to increase public awareness and preparedness for the dangers, prevention and handling of floods.
This activity was carried out as an implementation of integrated health practices. The activity was attended by 26 participants from RT 02 RW 06, who were very enthusiastic in participating. This activity was also attended by Mr. Marullah as the head of RW 006 and his wife, Mrs. H. Maesaroh as a representative of cadres from RT 02 RW 06 and also Ns. Duma Lumban Tobing M. Kep., Sp. Kep., J as the supervisor lecturer who also opened the event with her speech, not forgetting the head of group 9, Bianca Gadis Noora'ini, S.Kep. who also gave her speech followed by a speech from Mr. Marullah as the head of RW 06. As the opening of the event the host began with a joint prayer and singing the National Anthem Indonesia Raya also Mars Bela Negara. As a symbol of care in the form of a certificate was given and represented by the supervising lecturer and the head of the event to the head of RW.
At the core of the event, the event committee directed residents to fill out a pretest questionnaire assisted by the event committee as facilitators, which followed by a presentation of material on flood prevention and management, as well as a demonstration of how to prepare a disaster preparedness bag and how to provide first aid to drowning victims during a flood, namely CPR. After that, participants were given the opportunity to try the demonstration themselves, and there was an interactive question and answer session between the presenter and participants. Door prizes was given tp the participants who actively asked questions and re-demonstrated the CPR. At the end of presentation, participants were again directed to fill out a posttest questionnaire. The host then closed the activity by saying gratitude to all parties who played a role in the implementation of this activity.
As an effort to raise public’s awareness and broaden the public's insight into flood prevention and management, the flood mitigation counseling event “AKSI CERDAS: Antisipasi Banjir, Siaga Selamatkan Jiwa” which organized by a group of 9 professional nursing students practicing in the UPNVJ health clinic on April 25, 2025 was successful and ran smoothly also had a positive impact on the participants. Through this opportunity, publics can learn and participate directly and it is hoped that public will be more prepared and alert in facing the dangers of flood in their surroundings.
