Health Mitigation Project, Socialization of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever Prevention in School-Age Children

FIKES UPNVJ - Depok, 22 April 2024 – UPN Veteran Jakarta, Faculty of Health Sciences, Department of Education Study Program, Nurse Professional Program, in the context of disaster mitigation in the Depok area, we are holding a Socialization on the Prevention of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) Outbreaks in the Limo sub-district, Limo District.

This activity was attended by 35 school age children as well as 8 supervising teachers and was held in Rumille Al-Hilya, Limo Village, Limo District. As an effort to prevent dengue fever outbreaks through education targeting school-age children in the Limo sub-district. The activities we carry out include delivering DBD material accompanied by games. In this education we explain the topic of dengue fever starting from the definition, signs, symptoms, causes as well as prevention and treatment of dengue fever.

Preventing dengue fever is very important and the public must understand what signs and symptoms arise if someone is infected with dengue fever, because the rainy season has entered, which will result in puddles which can cause the aides aigypty mosquito to nest and attack us if we don't take precautions and be alert to the dangers of dengue fever. bleeding, especially in children.

The activity opened with an introduction by us as UPN Veteran Jakarta students, followed by a presentation of material presented by Anisa and Nabila Tsamara regarding preventing dengue fever outbreaks. After completing the presentation regarding dengue fever material by the presenter, it was continued with a game led by Aulya and Fitri as a form of evaluating the children's understanding of the material that had been presented.

At the end of the game there will be 3 children who will be asked to answer the questions we have prepared. Most participants were able to explain the causes, prevention and treatment of DHF (Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever).

The socialization ended with games and the distribution of snack prizes as a form of appreciation to school-aged children who had participated and understood how important it is to prevent dengue fever. This is a hope for our group and the local community that there are several ways to prevent dengue fever, one of which is the 3M method (Drain, Cover, Recycle), especially for school age children, it can be taught as early as possible, especially as it is easy to do.
