PJBL Community Development and Organizing: Stop being helpless, fight anemia with blood supplement tablets ​

FIKES UPNVJ - In commemoration of the 59th National Health Day which falls on November 12 2023, as many as 41 students of the public health study program semester 3 Class B conducted the education "Stop being helpless, fight anemia with blood-enhancing tablets" at Car Free Day Southcity . Anemia is a condition where hemoglobin (Hb) levels in the blood are less than normal which differs according to age group, gender and physiological conditions or a condition when the body lacks red blood cells so that the body does not get enough oxygen. Anemia is a disease whose prevalence continues to increase. This is shown from Riskesdas data for 2013 and 2018 that there is an increase in the prevalence of anemia in Indonesia, namely from 18.4% to 32%. One of the problems with anemia is that most sufferers do not realize that they suffer from anemia.

Therefore, to commemorate National Health Day, as a form of implementing project based learning in the Community Development and Organization course with the guidance of Mrs. Dr. Laily Hanifah, SKM, M.Kes., conducted education at Car Free Day in Southcity with the aim of increasing public awareness about the importance of consuming blood supplement tablets to reduce the risk of anemia in the community.

Each student brought a poster which was used as educational media to assist in conveying information to the public and each student also gave blood supplement tablets to the public as an example of prevention to avoid anemia. Apart from aiming to increase public knowledge about anemia which will later become a form of preventive action against anemia, this activity is also beneficial for students, namely students gain new experience in the field and can also implement the knowledge they have learned in the Community Development and Organization course. .
