Community Nutrition Field Work Practices at UPTD Sawangan Community Health Center

FIKES UPNVJ - The undergraduate students of the Nutrition Study Program of 2020 have successfully completed the Community Nutrition Field Work Practice which started from August 15 to September 10, 2023. This activity aims to provide learning experiences that focus on community nutrition management based on current community goals and issues.

Community Nutrition Field Work Practices carried out by final year students in the seventh semester are intended to have a concrete and guided learning experience to fulfill the competencies required for the Bachelor of Nutrition degree. These competencies include aspects of theoretical and practical learning, as well as interactive and collaborative elements. This program was carried out at one of the health facilities, namely UPTD Puskesmas Sawangan, for about one month.

Community Nutrition Field Work Practice activities at UPTD Puskesmas Sawangan involve program contracts, situation analysis, intervention, monitoring, and evaluation which are then concluded with a field examination by presenting the results of the Community Nutrition Field Work Practice activities. During the field work, students were assigned to work with 10 different targets, namely infants (0 - <6 months), toddlers (6 - 23 months), toddlers 24 - 59 months, school-age children (6 - 12 years), adolescents (12 - 19 years), women of childbearing age (≥ 20 - 49 years), breastfeeding mothers, pregnant women, elderly ≥ 60 years, and secondary data. Students also participate in assisting the implementation of puskesmas programs, such as health and nutrition counseling, distribution of blood supplement tablets, mother and baby classes, immunization, provision of taburia and milk for malnourished children, health screening for school-age children, and anthropometric measurements on infants, toddlers, and school-age children.

The program contract was held on August 15, 2023. The program then ended with a Field Examination which was held on Thursday, September 7, 2023. The field examination was attended by students participating in field practice who were supervised by Iin Fatmawati, S.Gz., M.PH as supervisor. The field examination was also attended by Indah Rozalina, A.MG as the community instructor and drg. Mukti Purnaningsih as the Head of UPTD Sawangan Health Center.
