Maternity Nursing PJBL "Creating a Healthy Reproductive Generation Through Pre-Conception"

FIKES UPNVJ - Undergraduate Nursing Study Program students have carried out the PJBL activity for the Maternity Nursing Course which was held on Saturday, November 2, 2024, Undergraduate Nursing Study Program students class of 2023, class A successfully carried out health counseling activities for adolescents as the Final Project Assignment for the Maternity Nursing course. The activity was carried out at the Mabad Kiwal Rempoa Complex, Jl Wijaya Kusuma II 1-4 RT 05 RW 01, Rempoa, Kec. Ciputat Tim, South Tangerang City. There were 15 participants in the activity. The theme of the activity is "Creating a Healthy Reproductive Generation Through Pre-Conception". It is hoped that adolescents who take part in this activity will be able to know and understand the meaning of preconception, definition and physical growth of adolescents, reproductive hygiene care, definition of sexuality and its impact on adolescent life, factors that influence juvenile delinquency, risk of adolescent pregnancy, to steps that need to be taken if early pregnancy occurs.

The activity began with an opening by the MC and remarks from the chief executive and the head of the RT. The activity continued with a pre-test to measure the students' understanding before the presentation of the material. After all participants had completed the pre-test, it was continued with a presentation of the material by UPN "Veteran" Jakarta students by Marsya Rishil Mayza regarding the meaning of preconception, definition and physical growth of adolescents, reproductive hygiene care, definition of sexuality and its impact on adolescent life, factors that influence juvenile delinquency, the risk of teenage pregnancy, to the steps that need to be taken if early pregnancy occurs. Participants were given the opportunity to ask questions related to things they did not understand. Ice breaking activities were carried out to lighten the atmosphere. The next activity was a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) and post-test to measure the level of understanding of the participants. The activity ended with the distribution of prizes for the most active participants and participants who could answer questions, and closed with joint documentation.

The average result of the participants' pre-test was 15.33/100 with a median of 20 and a range of values ​​from 0-30. The majority of participants scored below 30 points). This indicates that the participants' knowledge is relatively low.

After health education, the post-test results of the majority of participants showed a significant increase, with an average score of 68.67/100 points (median 70). The majority of participants scored higher and mostly around 70.

Based on the data obtained, it shows that the knowledge of participants in Preconception counseling education increased after being given health education compared to knowledge before being given health education. Health education can increase knowledge, change awareness and behavior, so that people or communities participate in improving health.
Overall, participants were satisfied with the counseling activities that had been carried out. In addition, participants also said that they gained new useful knowledge and were more confident in making decisions, especially regarding contraception. Some of them said that they should hold activities like this more often and involve the local community.
