Project Based Learning on Promotion of Occupational Safety and Health Course: Safety Driving for Logistics Truck Drivers

FIKES UPNVJ - May 26, 2023 – Undergraduate Public Health Study Program students specializing in Occupational Safety and Health carried out Project Based Learning from the Occupational Safety and Health Promotion Course taught by Mrs. Azizah Musliha Fitri, S.K.M., MPH. and Dr. Ns. Dyah Utari, S.Kep, M.K.K.K.

One group of 6th semester students conducted Project Based Learning at PT GoTrans Logistics International. A group of 8 students (Carlos Piero Martua, Cindy Novani Chandra, Deka Agustina, Farah Namira Anjani, Julivia Anggraini, Natasha Putri Ayu Kayla, Tirza Grenluisa, and Yully Ariyani) carried out the project at Jalan Raya Jakarta - Bogor Jalan Belly No.KM 26, RT.7/RW.9, Pekayon, East Jakarta City, Jakarta.

The project activities carried the topic "Safety Driving for Logistics Truck Drivers" and the series of project activities included:

1. Preparation

Preparations were made since mid-April 2023. The group agreed to choose a target in that company because the number of drivers who work every day is different, sometimes there are constraints on limited resources which result in drivers who have just finished their trip being required to leave again to pursue company targets. Before conducting the OSH promotion, the group first made a unit counseling program that contained dates, hours, duration, material, methods, media, tools, materials, and plans for the stages of the activity. After that, the group prepared all the tools and materials to carry out activities, such as providing materials, attendance lists, pretest and posttest questions, and a loaf of bread and a bottle of mineral water.

2. Implementation

The implementation of activities carried out on May 26, 2023 at 09.00–09.30 GMT+7 at PT GoTrans Logistics International with the opening of the event and group introduction by Julivia Anggraini, pretest, giving leaflets to OSH promotion participants, logistics truck drivers, material exposure by Farah Namira Anjani, Natasha Putri Ayu Kayla, and Carlos Piero Martua through the promotion method as well as a poster and leaflets. After that, the discussion and question and answer session were conducted. It was closed with the participants filling out the posttest.

3. Evaluation

Evaluation was carried out before and after implementation. The evaluation was carried out by observing the results of the participants' pretest and posttest.

In order to increase knowledge related to safety driving, a health promotion was carried out which was attended by 11 logistics truck drivers. As a form of support for Occupational Safety and Health (OSH), posters and leaflets were given to that company and safety stickers for vehicles received by each worker.
