FIKES UPNVJ - On May 12, 2025, the 2025 Matra Health Practice Disaster Simulation activity was carried out with the theme "Optimizing the Role of Matra Health Workers in Earthquake Disaster Management Simulation". This activity is the culmination of a series of activities from the Matra Nursing practice. This activity was held after going through the mitigation phase, Matra festival, workshop and disaster management skill station. So that students are expected to be comprehensively ready to play a role as health reserve workers in disaster management both in the pre-disaster, emergency response and post-disaster phases.
This activity involves collaboration and cooperation of FIKES UPN "Veteran" Jakarta students from various study programs, namely the 2024 Nursing Professional Education Study Program, the 2022 Diploma Program Nursing Study Program, the 2023 Diploma Program Physiotherapy Study Program, and the 2022 Undergraduate Program Nutrition Study Program as a form of implementation of integrated learning or interprofessional collaboration (IPC) with 320 participants and 40 volunteers who act as victims.
This activity was attended by the Rector of UPN “Veteran” Jakarta, Prof. Dr. Anter Venus, MA, Comm, Dean of FIKES UPN “Veteran” Jakarta, Mrs. Desmawati, SKp., M.Kep., Sp.Kep.Mat., PhD, the academic community of UPN “Veteran” Jakarta, and Mr. Ns. Welas Riyanto, M.Kep., Sp.Kep.MB as the head of HIPGABI. This activity aims to improve leadership and planning skills for Nursing Professional Education students, critical analysis skills for Undergraduate Program students, and action skills for Diploma Program students. Preparations for this activity have been carried out several weeks in advance, including the Workshop and Skill Station which were held on May 10-11, 2025.
This disaster simulation activity was facilitated by the Indonesian Emergency and Disaster Nursing Association (HIPGABI) as a collaborating partner. The activity was carried out at 07.00 - 12.00 WIB, starting from the Morning Roll Call activity, remarks and opening by the Rector of UPN "Veteran" Jakarta Prof. Dr. Anter Venus, MA, COMM, and continued with an earthquake disaster simulation activity in the Limo area, Depok. In this activity, there are several roles involved in the disaster simulation activity, namely, the Health Emergency Operational Center (HEOC) Team, Rapid Health Assessment (RHA) Team, Emergency Medical Team Coordination Cell (EMTCC) Team, Triage Team, Rapid Reaction Team (TRC), Evacuator Team, Disaster Victim Identification (DVI) Team, Field Hospital, Referral Hospital, Refugee Post, Nutrition Team, Medical Logistics Team, Ambulance Team, to the Reporter Team and victims. After the disaster simulation activity, it was continued with ISHOMA and evaluation of activities with HIPGABI.
The simulation scenario describes an earthquake with a magnitude of 6.8. The location of the earthquake or epicenter is located at coordinates 6.81 ° S; 107.55°E (Depok City) and was at a depth of 10 kilometers. This earthquake caused thousands of fatalities, the loss of tens of thousands of residents, and many people had to evacuate. Disaster simulations in the form of direct emergency response were carried out by the Health Emergency Operation Center (HEOC) Team, Rapid Health Assessment (RHA) Team, Emergency Medical Team Coordination Cell (EMTCC) Team, Triage Team, Rapid Reaction Team (TRC), Evacuator Team, Disaster Victim Identification (DVI) Team, Field Hospital, Referral Hospital, Refugee Post, Nutrition Team, Medical Logistics Team, and also the Ambulance Team.
In this simulation, the entire command, coordination, and emergency communication systems were activated. An emergency response command post was established and functioned as a control center. Referral hospitals (or advanced hospitals) function to provide more complex and in-depth health services for patients referred from lower-level health facilities. Being referred to a hospital means that a patient is treated by another hospital because their medical condition requires more specialist or comprehensive care that cannot be provided by the previous health facility. This referral is usually done by a doctor or medical officer at the health facility where the patient first received treatment.
The activity ended with an evaluation from each role team together with HIPGABI by explaining any shortcomings that occurred during the simulation. The entire event ran smoothly and the scenario was well implemented. Students were able to play their roles according to the roles that had been determined and practice the knowledge and skills they already had.
