PJBL Physiotherapy Management for Growth and Development and Pediatrics "Play, Learn, and Develop: Sensorymotor Playdate for Children with Down Syndrome"

FIKES UPNVJ - Jakarta, December 1, 2024 - Undergraduate Physiotherapy Study Program students, Universitas Pembangunan Nasional "Veteran" Jakarta, held an activity entitled "Sensorymotor Playdate" aimed at children from the Down Syndrome Parents' Association (POTADS) community. The event, which took place at RPTRA Malinjo, Pejaten Barat, aimed to support the sensorimotor development of children with Down Syndrome through an educational and fun game-based approach.

The activity began at 08.40 with an opening by the Master of Ceremony, followed by remarks from the Head of Rumah Ceria Down Syndrome and a group photo session. Next, the children underwent Sensory Profile and Beighton Score examinations, which are designed to evaluate their sensory abilities and flexibility as a basis for formulating appropriate interventions.

Through this activity, UPN "Veteran" Jakarta Physiotherapy students demonstrated their commitment to supporting the development of children with special needs, while also raising public awareness about the importance of play-based interventions for children with Down Syndrome. Sensorymotor Playdates not only provide direct benefits to the children involved, but also serve as a platform for collaboration between families, communities, and professionals to create a more inclusive environment.
