Matra Health Mitigation Project "Recognizing Earthquakes by Providing First Aid to Disaster Victims as a Form of Mitigation"

FIKES UPNVJ - On Sunday, April 21 2024, mitigation counseling was carried out in the Rt.02 Rw.01 area of Limo sub-district, Limo sub-district with the theme "Getting to Know Earthquakes by Providing First Aid to Disaster Victims". The number of participants who attended was 30 participants. The aim of strengthening disaster mitigation is to provide direct experience to the community in order to increase knowledge and understanding regarding earthquake disaster management, apart from that this activity is carried out as a form of application and service to the community. The activity began with residents filling out attendance attendance along with health checks for blood pressure and Current Blood Glucose (GDS). Exactly at 10.00 the activities started, before entering the main event. There were opening remarks by the chairman of RT.02, Mr. Elan Maulana, and academic supervisor, UPN Veteran Jakarta lecturer, Ns. Rycco Darmareja, S.Kep., M.Kep. Then the event was handed over to Moderator Della Aprilia Madani, S.Kep to guide the presentation and Q&A discussion.

Presentation of material was delivered by Bebi Ayu Wulandari, S.Kep regarding the introduction of earthquake natural disasters, the impact of earthquakes, and how to prepare to anticipate earthquakes. Next, there was a demonstration by Minister Fajri R.Y, S.Kep regarding the contents of a first aid kit that must be in the house, several tools were introduced, namely: Wound plaster, gauze, wound ointment/iodione liquid, scissors and tweezers, as well as basic medicines such as paracetamol , and ORS drugs. Furthermore, the final demonstration was by Dwi Rahmwati, S.Kep regarding first aid in case of injury or bleeding during a disaster/earthquake. The main introduction to the 4Ts, Close, Press, Elevate the wound, and Pressure point (Pressing the large vein above the wound/bleeding is located). The most important introduction is how to use a dressing which is useful for suppressing bleeding, then how to fix/tie the wound area.

During the materials and demonstrations, residents were very enthusiastic about paying attention and many even asked about the materials and procedures for providing first aid. Before the event closed, Ns.Rycco Darmareja, M.Kep added a little explanation and practiced how to evacuate from an earthquake by covering the head and protecting the neck which was demonstrated by Della Della Aprilia Madani, S.Kep. Next, the certification is handed over to the Chair of Rt.02. All activities were documented by Nevin Zhasmin Miszka, S.Kep.

The hope of mitigation activities is that people can practice what has been demonstrated regarding first aid in case of injury or bleeding, not only during a disaster but in everyday life when their family, neighbors or themselves experience injuries or even bleeding.
