Seminar on Writing Teaching Materials

FIKES UPNVJ- On Tuesday, June 11 2024, a Teaching Material Writing Seminar was held for UPN Veteran Jakarta FIKES Lecturers at the UPN VJ Medical Research Center Auditorium. This seminar was opened by the Acting Dean, namely Ns Fiora Ladesvita, M.Kep, S.Kep, MB who hoped that the lecturers could provide drafts of their books to be published to support learning activities. The outcome is that lecturers can improve their functional positions through these textbooks, because they are able to help with teaching activities. This event is the first step in collaboration with PT Erlangga and it is hoped that this event can provide benefits for us all.

This event was hosted by Dr. Laily Hanifah, SKM, M.Kes, lecturer in the Department of Public Health, Faculty of Health Sciences, Veterans National Development University, Jakarta, with resource person Mrs. Rina Astikawati, S.Si., Apt., MM as Chief Editor of the Erlangga Medical Series. PT Erlangga has distribution channels in 20 branches but as an editor is in the office in Jakarta, various publishers have different publishing styles but PT Erlangga has one-hearted guidelines for national development and hopes to cover all departments including departments at the Faculty of Health Sciences.

Mrs. Rina explained how to make a book, starting with a manuscript which should have been reviewed by colleagues so that the content is more validated, if there are typos the editorial team can help, the same goes for the cover, then the editorial team will be responsible for ensuring that there is no plagiarism even up to book distribution. In essence, the book is a representation of the author's ideas and is finalized by the publisher, then marketed. Therefore, the market is one consideration for the manuscript. Manuscripts that are rejected are caused by, among other things, a lack of economic value, such as an inappropriate title, previous experience, a book that Successful sales are books that are appropriate to the teaching subject. Erlangga Publisher has several advantages such as physical quality, content quality and wide distribution.
