ABDIMAS : Education And Screening On Fall Risk In Older Adults

FIKES UPNVJ - Jakarta, September 18, 2024, Physiotherapy Study Program UPN Veteran Jakarta has held an International Community Service activity with the theme "Education and Screening on Fall Risk in Older Adults", at Posbindu Anyelir, Marine Complex, Depok City. This activity is in collaboration with Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Malaysia, by presenting the main speaker, Dr. Azliyana Azizan, Health & Wellness Coordinator at Research Nexus UiTM (ReNeU), Office of Deputy Vice Chancellor Research and Innovation, UiTM Shah Alam, Malaysia. This activity aims to increase knowledge to reduce the risk of falls, cognitive problems and improve the quality of life of the elderly. In addition, this activity aims to support the achievement of the work program targets of the Faculty of Health Sciences regarding improving the quality of foreign cooperation in the academic field.

The opening ceremony of the International Community Service activity was held at 08.00 WIB attended by students, lecturers, posbindu cadres, the elderly, and representatives of community leaders. The opening of the International Community Service activity by the Vice Dean for Student Affairs, Alumni, and Cooperation, Mr. Agustiyawan, SST., FT., M.Fis, Ftr., AIFO and continued with the presentation of counseling materials by Dr. Noor Azliyana Azizan. The counseling materials broadly discussed efforts to prevent falls in the elderly. After the counseling activity, it was continued with screening and examination in the form of TTV, BMI, Blood sugar, Uric acid, Cholesterol, Time up and go test, 5 time sit to stand, four square step test, hand grip, consultation and physiotherapy intervention for the elderly who experience movement disorders.

This activity is expected to be carried out continuously so that synergy is formed between Physiotherapy, Faculty of Health Sciences, UPN Veteran Jakarta and Posbindu Anyelir, Marine Complex, Depok City. In addition, through this activity, it is expected to provide a positive contribution in supporting the health and welfare of the elderly, as well as increasing public awareness of the importance of attention to the elderly group.
