First Meeting of Student Senate 2025 Focuses on Strengthening Understanding of Duties and Functions of Student Senate Members

FIKES UPNVJ - Jakarta, February 27, 2025 – The Student Senate of the Faculty of Health Sciences, Universitas Pembangunan Nasional Veteran Jakarta (UPNVJ) held its first meeting in 2025 to discuss strengthening the understanding of the main duties and functions (tupoksi) of the Student Senate members. This meeting is the first step to strengthen the role of the Student Senate as an institution that functions as a forum for communication, aspirations, and supervision for all students in the Faculty of Health Sciences, as well as a strategic partner for faculty leaders in various academic and non-academic policies. The meeting, which was attended by all members of the Student Senate, was led by the elected Chair of the Student Senate, Fariz Putra Utama Lubis, who emphasized the importance of a clear understanding of the duties and functions of each member. In his remarks, Fariz emphasized that each member of the Student Senate must fully understand their role in formulating policies, and ensure that every decision taken can reflect the interests and aspirations of students as a whole.

The Student Senate has a very important role in conveying the voice of students, both in terms of academic policies and the development of extracurricular activities. As a student organization, the Student Senate must be a bridge between students and the faculty. A strong understanding of these duties and functions will make it easier for us to collaborate in achieving common goals, namely improving the quality of education and student welfare.
The meeting also discussed the division of tasks among members of the Student Senate. Each member was given an in-depth explanation regarding their responsibilities, both in planning student activities, supervising academic policies, and managing community service activities. An important point that was emphasized was the importance of synergy between members of the Student Senate to ensure that every program implemented can run well and according to expectations.
In addition, this inaugural meeting also agreed on the importance of preparing a work program based on student input and needs. Members of the Student Senate were reminded to always listen to student aspirations directly through various discussion forums and opinion gathering. The work program that was designed will focus on human resource development, improving academic quality, and activities that can improve student welfare in the faculty.
With this inaugural meeting, it is hoped that the Student Senate of the Faculty of Health Sciences UPNVJ can be more effective in carrying out its duties and functions. Strengthening the understanding of the duties and functions of Student Senate members is expected to increase the professionalism and competitiveness of the Student Senate, as well as encourage the creation of a more conducive and inclusive campus atmosphere for all students in the Faculty of Health Sciences
