Towards Universal Health Coverage through Strengthening Digital-Based Health Systems

FIKES UPNVJ - Jakarta, November 10, 2024 – The Faculty of Health Sciences (FIKES) of the Veteran National Development University, Jakarta, in collaboration with Transform Health Indonesia (THI), successfully held an International Seminar entitled "Achieving Universal Health Coverage Through Health Resilience System with Digital Public Health Based". This seminar aims to discuss the role of digital transformation in building a resilient and inclusive Indonesian health system in order to achieve Universal Health Coverage (UHC) by 2030. This activity is also part of the 2024 Digital Health Week series which will take place on November 4-10, 2024.

The webinar began with the presentation of the vision, mission, and strategic objectives of the Public Health Study Program of the Master's Program (PSKMPM). This webinar is one of the manifestations of the scientific vision of PSKMPM, namely public health resilience. The welcoming speech was given by Dr. Apriningsih, SKM, MKM, Head of the Public Health Department, FIKES UPN Veteran Jakarta. In her remarks, Dr. Apriningsih emphasized the importance of cross-sector collaboration in realizing a health system that is adaptive to technological developments.

Prof. Dr. Ede Surya Darmawan, SKM, MDM, Coordinator of Transform Health Indonesia, explained the practice of Digital Public Health and explained the role of THI in the international coalition to advance digital health, with the principles of governance protecting the people, advancing health values, and prioritizing equity. The second material was presented by Muttaqien, MPH., AAK, from the National Social Security Council (DJSN), discussing the achievement of UHC with JKN participation reaching 99.10%, but highlighting the challenge of inactive participants of approximately 60 million people. Then there is a potential deficit, therefore the importance of Digital Public Health to achieve equitable, affordable, and comprehensive UHC through telemedicine, mHealth, and data-based applications. Then continued with the presentation by Prof. Dr. Ir. Supriyanto, ST., MSc, Dean of the Faculty of Computer Science, UPN Veteran Jakarta, discussed the urgency of BPJS Kesehatan data cybersecurity policy for community resilience, highlighting the state's obligation to protect personal data and mitigate cyber attacks through increased awareness, multi-factor authentication, encryption, system updates, and regular education for employees. The fourth session was delivered by Dr. Hermawan Saputra, SKM., MARS, Elected Chairman of IAKMI, he highlighted the importance of Digital Public Health and the core value of CIAP (Communicative, Innovative, Attractive, Productive) for health workers to achieve UHC 2030 amidst Indonesia's geographical challenges, limited infrastructure, the need to improve digital skills, as well as issues of privacy and gaps in access to technology.
