Congratulations and Success to the Nursing Undergraduate Student for Winning the Bronze Medal at the World Youth Invention and Innovation Award (WYIIA) 2024
FIKES UPNVJ - World Youth Invention and Innovation Award (WYIIA) is an international competition held annually by the Indonesian Young Scientist Association (IYSA). This year, the WYIIA competition was held both offline and online, and in collaboration with Universitas Sarjanawiyata Tamansiswa (UST) and IPB University Department of Food Science and Technology. This WYIIA competition opened several innovation categories, consisting of mathematics, environment, technology, energy and engineering, life science, physics, education, and social science which were participated by 460 teams from 16 countries, with details of 304 teams in the online competition category, and 156 teams in the offline competition category held at UST Yogyakarta.
This competition activity was held from September 10, 2024 to September 20, 2024 and the judging was carried out through a presentation and question and answer process on Monday, October 7, 2024 which lasted for 15 minutes via zoom meeting. In this competition, UPN "Veteran" Jakarta's Nursing undergraduate students presented an application innovation in the form of a prototype design designed as a medium for education, prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation around heart disease, named "CARDI-U CARE: Comprehensive Advanced Resources Digital Innovation for Universal CPR Awareness and Response Education". This application design is intended as a design for the latest technology for all groups, especially heart disease sufferers who are at risk of cardiac arrest.
The application called "CARDI-U CARE" consists of health screening features, treatment history, alarm therapy, educational media, activity detectors, to emergency telephones, and others. In addition, students also provide additional innovation by connecting this application to a bracelet called the "CARDI-U Bracelet". This bracelet is equipped with heart rate detection technology and can provide emergency alarms and instructions for performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) when the user is detected having a heart attack. This aims so that people around the user can provide first aid to individuals who are having a heart attack by following the instructions given.
With the innovation of the application design and the bracelet in the form of a prototype, after carrying out activities for approximately one month, on Friday, October 11, 2024, it was announced that the Nursing Undergraduate Students (Sofia, Dita, Fatma, Phelia, and Intan) representing UPN "Veteran" Jakarta and Indonesia were named as one of the winners of the "BRONZE MEDAL" in the university-level technology branch at the World Youth Invention and Innovation Award (WYIIA) Competition.
