Integrative Socialization to Anticipate Fire Prevention "SIGAP" Disaster Management Health Education

FIKES UPNVJ - On Sunday, May 19 2024, a health education activity entitled Integrative Socialization to Anticipate Fire Prevention (SIGAP) was carried out regarding fires in the context of disaster mitigation located in the RT 03/RW 01 Kemiri Muka Village, Pondok Cina District, Kota Depok by students of the Public Health Study Program, UPN Veteran Jakarta Undergraduate Program. This health education is to fulfill the Disaster Management Project led by Mr Afif Amir Amrullah. S.Kp.M.KKK and is a series of disaster mitigation activities in the Disaster Management course. This activity was carried out after students collected data regarding risks related to the threat of fire disasters in communities and environments that are prone to fire.

The aim of this activity is to provide students with experience so that they can better know and understand what they have to do as a public health person. This counseling was carried out to fulfill the Disaster Management project task assessment. Apart from that, this outreach activity also aims to train students to be able to work together in teams, plan large-scale outreach, and also have the courage to speak in public, as well as providing education to residents in disaster-prone environments.

Fire disaster mitigation is a follow-up to the incident. On January 25 2024, a fire occurred in four rented houses in Gang Lengkeng, Pondok Cina (Pocin), Kemiri Muka Village, Pondok Cina District. This fire resulted in large material losses. It is suspected that the fire was caused by a failure in the electrical installation. Efforts to extinguish the fire with water cannot be carried out because it risks conducting an electric current. Therefore, the aim of the group is to plan to go to the field in this area so that the community around Gang Lengkeng can understand about fires and the practice of using APAR as an effort to overcome fire disasters.

During the activity, the group held a pretest to measure the level of knowledge, attitudes and skills of residents regarding the preparations that residents can make to face fire disasters, the group provided education to residents regarding how to mitigate fire disasters and training on how to use Light Fire Extinguishers (APAR). to safely reduce the risk of impacts from fire.

The first event began with an opening by the MC, namely Inara Perdana Kurnia and Rizka Ayu Alvianty, then continued with remarks from the chief executive, Jilan Anindya Pralandono, then continued with remarks from the RT chairman, Mr. Achmad Mubasir. After the welcoming ceremony, the main event for mitigation was carried out, namely the presentation of material regarding fire disasters by the speakers, namely Riska Setiawati and Raisha Syahidah. The event continued with a demonstration and practice of using a Light Fire Extinguisher (APAR) guided by Fariz Putra Utama Lubis and attended by the participants.

After the presentation of the material, a discussion and question and answer session opened. Participants who attended actively asked and discussed how to prevent and handle fire disasters. Participants also shared experiences related to handling fire disasters they had experienced. After the discussion and question and answer session, participants were given a post-test questionnaire again to find out whether the participants had understood the material that had been presented. Followed by an ice breaking guided by the committee, next was the announcement of the best participants and ice breaking winners as well as giving souvenirs in the form of fire extinguishers to the RT heads by the Chief Executive. The activity ended with a group photo.
