Mitigation Project: Prevent Fires With Devotion (Together Fire Watch Increases Initiative)

FIKES UPNVJ - Fire is an event where the burning process occurs uncontrollably, potentially causing damage to property, the environment, and even loss of life. This includes building fires, forest fires, vehicle fires, or other fire incidents in various situations. In 2017, the Jakarta Fire Department recorded 1,471 fire incidents, while in 2018, there were 692 fire incidents in half a year according to BNPBD. On April 28, 2024, group 6 of UPNVJ's clinical health practice students organized a fire mitigation awareness campaign with the theme "BAKTI (Bersama Awas Kebakaran Tingkatkan Inisiatif)" at the Mushola Mudawatul Islam Hall Rt 03, RW 06, Limo Village, Depok City to raise public awareness of the dangers of fire and strengthen their ability in prevention.

This activity is carried out as part of the National Disaster Preparedness Day, in the implementation of integrated health practice. The event was attended by 25 participants from RT 03 RW 06, who enthusiastically participated. The event was also attended by Ustadz Zaki Sain Ali as the Head of RT 03 RW 06 and Ns Santi Herlina, M.Kep., Sp.Kep. KM. as the supervising lecturer who also opened the event with a speech. To commence the activity, the MC started with a collective prayer and singing the Indonesian National Anthem "Indonesia Raya" and the Mars Bela Negara. Then, the awarding of token of appreciation in the form of plaques and certificates, represented by the supervising lecturer, was given to the head of RT 03 RW 06.

During the core event, participants were directed to fill out a pretest questionnaire assisted by the students acting as facilitators, followed by a presentation on fire prevention and handling of small fires, as well as a demonstration of traditional firefighting methods by the two speakers. Subsequently, participants were given the opportunity to try the demonstration themselves, and there was an interactive Q&A session between the speakers and the participants. Participants who asked questions and participated in the re-demonstration had the chance to win door prizes. To conclude the presentation session, participants were directed to fill out a posttest questionnaire. The emcee then closed the event by expressing gratitude to all parties involved in making the event possible.

In an effort to raise awareness about the risk of fires and enhance the community's ability to address this issue, the fire mitigation awareness campaign "BAKTI (Together Beware of Fire Increase Initiative)" organized by group 6 of UPNVJ's clinical health practice students on April 28, 2024, was successful and received positive feedback from participants. Through the opportunity to learn and participate directly, it is hoped that the community will become better prepared to face the potential dangers of fire in their surroundings.
